Based on the Rwandan Vision 2020, the Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (IRST) is the leading Institution of the knowledge-based and technology-led economy of Rwanda. It was established within the framework of research restructuring in Rwanda by the law n° 06/1989 on march 15,1989 made public in official Gazette of may 1, 1989.Its innovative technologies help Rwandan populations to solve their socio-economical problems.

Its mission is to provide quality education based on Christian values, to develop research and to initiate community services in order to participate in the transformation of the society

University

The Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (“ISAE” for its French acronym - “Institut Supérieur d’Agriculture et d’Elevage”) was established in 1989 government of Rwanda as an autonomous institution of higher education, under the Ministry of Education with its own governing council. The law establishing the creation and organization of ISAE was published in the official gazette no 17 bis of September 1st 2003. ISAE original mission was created to train highly qualified specialists, technicians, engineers as well as veterinary doctors, in various fields of agriculture and animal husbandry to serve the country and beyond

The Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Education of Kibungo (INATEK) was established in Rwanda's Ngoma District to address education and poverty reduction. INATEK is working with Teachers Without Borders to provide online and offline professional development opportunities, including TWB's International Certificate of Teaching Mastery (CTM), to pre-service and in-service teachers.

Kigali Independent University ULK is a private Institution of Higher Learning founded on 15 March 1996 and governed by the Law No 27/2013 of 24/5/2013 governing the organization and functioning of Higher Education in Rwanda, the Law No 13/2009 regulating Labor in Rwanda, the Presidential Order No 51/01 of 13/7/2010 establishing quality standards in higher learning institutions.

The Kigali Institute of Science, Technology and Management (KIST) in Kigali, Rwanda is the first technology-focused institution of higher education to be created by the Rwanda government. It was established in November, 1997. Major partners in its creation were the Ministry of Education, the UNDP Rwanda, and GTZ, a German enterprise.

The National University of Rwanda (NUR; French: Université nationale du Rwanda) is the largest university in Rwanda. It is located at 2°36′58″S 29°44′34″ECoordinates: 2°36′58″S 29°44′34″E in the city of Butare and was established in 1963 by the government in cooperation with the Congregation of the Dominicans from the Province of Quebec.
