ABOUT AFRICAN BIRDING EXPO
The African Birding Expo ( ABE) is the first of its kind on the African Continent. It has become an meeting point for a spectrum of the birdwatching community within and outside Africa. There is an every increasing demand of professionals in birding and the tourism industry to participate in the familiarization tour that takes place before the expo. The participants of the 2nd African African Birding Expo tour came from various countries including Panama, Taiwan, Australia, USA, UK, Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania. Vendors include tour companies, hotels, lodges, campsites, guides, booksellers, crafts, restaurants, designers.
Avitourism has become a large industry and is the biggest niche within eco-tourism. Birding is an emerging sub-sector of the nature-based tourism industry, where tourist travel motivations are focused around bird watching .
The African Birding Expo is planned to build a strong, recognizable destination brand that attracts domestic and international visitors and supports the conservation and growth of the birding in Africa
The main objectives are:
- To promote awareness of Africa a great premium birding destination in the world
- To promote the conservation effort of Africa’s endangered bird species across the continent.
- To support and develop birding enterprise especially and encourage the youth and communities to invest in birding as an economic activity and means of wealth creation
- To act as the meeting point for businesses from African and the rest of the world with purpose of building business networks.
