Caran Apartments is about 8 kilometers (5.0 mi), by road, from the central business district of the city. There are a host of non-government organisations (NGO) workers, Ugandan families and international residents living in Muyenga, making it a wonderful family location. Quiet and quaint, Muyenga area has beautiful views of the city to the north and of Lake Victoria to the south.

There are also plenty of fantastic bars, cafés, coffee shop and restaurants to be found in the area, where guests can get a taste of some Ugandan and international cuisine.

Personal Identification

All guests are required to present a valid identification upon check-in, which may be either a passport,

East Africa National ID or National ID for Uganda nationals.

Uganda Nationals can check-in with either a passport, National ID or a valid Uganda driving license.

Late Check-Out Policy

Check out time is 10 am. Please inform the reception if you wish to retain your room beyond this time. Extension will be given depending on the availability. If the room is available, normal tariff will be charged. On failure of the guest to vacate the room on expiry or period the management shall have the right to remove the guest and his/her belongings from the room occupied by the Guest.

Children Policy

Children are welcome at CARAN APARTMENTS, subject to availability of child-friendly rooms and equipment.

Selected rooms can accommodate 1 -2 children (0-12yrs) sharing with parents.

Standard child rates (unless specified otherwise in e.g. special offers):

• Infants 0-6 year stay free when sharing with adults.

• Children 6-12 years are charged 50 percent of the extra person rate per child, per night

Getting Here And Around

FLY

Entebbe International Airport is located 48.5 km from Caran hotel apartments Kampala. Airport taxi will cost anywhere between USD 35-40 depending on how much luggage you have.

Getting Around

Kampala is a relatively small city and easily accessible. Minibus taxi, offer the cheapest mode of transport. A 5 minute walk from Caran hotel apartments will bring you to the Muyenga Tankhill road where you can jump onto a passing 14 seater minibus taxi for UGX 2000 depending on where you want to go. They stop by the supermarket in Kabalagala, Nsambya and the main market Nakasero in the city centre.

Taxi Hire Service

Taxi hire service is also available in whole Kampala and able to pick you up and drop you off directly at Caran hotel apartments. If you already have an Uber mobile application, you can order for taxi hire services anywhere in Kampala.

Car rental services in Kampala and to other Uganda towns and cities is also possible and we can assist you here as well.

Motorcycles or Boda Bodas

Motorcycles or boda bodas, as they are locally known, can always be used for short distances. Hire is a great option for those wanting total freedom, ideal for youngsters, and can be arranged through us. If you know you definitely want a motorbike/boda boda then feel free to let us know in advance so we can have one here when you arrive.

Supermarket

A 2 minute drive down the hill will bring you to TMT Supermarket, Italian Supermarket Muyenga.  They have  great food selection, imported goods and a great selection of alcohol.

Market

The Kabalagala market has all your fresh fruit and vegetable essentials and a couple of small convenience stores for other pantry needs. Best time to get good bargains in the market are morning hours before midday.

Hospital & health club

The International Hospital Kampala, Kevina Medical Centre are within easy access by road, 5-10 minute walk ahead you will come across the Muyenga International Hotel and Health Club.

Shops and Restaurants

Along the main road of Muyenga-Kabalagala are several shops and restaurants. Brood, KFC Kabalagala, Caffè Roma, are great spot for breakfast – good coffee, juices and epic omelettes. A continental breakfast menu would cost you from about USD 10 per person. Delivery from other restaurants is also possible.

Kabalagala Kansanga Street

The Kansanga and Kabalagala area of Kampala is lined with supermarkets, bars, nightclubs, cafes and restaurants on either side. It gets pretty rowdy down here on evenings and over the weekend. Some spots run happy hour specials!

Town Center

Kabalagala Market – the main market for Muyenga area is located at the Kabalagala trading centre ( 2.7 km away) and has a beautiful selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, meat and flowers. It is worth a visit just to look around.
