The Theatre Laboratory was previously part of the Cape Performing Arts Board (CAPAB), which has since been renamed Artscape Theatre Centre.The Theatre Laboratory was a project run under CAPAB (Cape Performing Arts Board) at the Nico Malan Theatre Centre during the 1980s. It functioned as a space for actor training, experimental productions, and development theatre within a structured repertory system. Although no longer active, it was part of CAPAB’s attempts to innovate within the constraints of apartheid-era programming.
