The Cereals and Other Produce Board of Tanzania (CPB) is a business entity enacted in Tanzania by the Cereals and Other Produce Act No. 19 of 2009. CPB has branch offices in Mwanza, Arusha, Dodoma,Iringa and Dar es Salaam.

The Branch Offices have storage facilities with the capacity to store more than 100,000Metric Tonsof produceat once.

CPB owns modern facilities with advanced cereals technology meant for cereals cleaning, drying, grading, milling and parkaging; these facilities are located at Gangilonga in Iringaand Unga limited in Arusha.

In addition there are facilities for wheat milling and oilseed extractionin Arusha. In addition CPB is in the process of establishing a state of the art maize milling and sunflower oil processing facilities at Kizota industrial area in Dodoma to cater for Central Zoneareas.

The National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) is an independent regulatory and membership body for the accountancy profession established under the Accountants and Auditors (Registration) Act [Cap 286 R.E. 2002] operating under the ministry responsible for Finance and Planning. NBAA was established in 1972 and started carrying out its functions from 15th January 1973. Since its establishment, NBAA has made a significant contribution to the development of accountancy profession in Tanzania, particularly on promotion, registration, standards setting, regulatory and examination functions. NBAA seeks to play a key role in promoting good governance through development of accountancy profession in Tanzania.

NBAA members play influential roles in public and private sectors. As a professional body, NBAA supports members and stakeholders through many services and provides a common voice for the profession.

As highlighted on the background section, Office of the Treasury Registrar (OTR) was established as a Corporation Sole through the Treasury Registrar Ordinance Cap 418 of 1959 which was revised in 2002 and renamed as The Treasury Registrar (Powers and Functions) Act [CAP .370 R.E.2002] as amended as ammended for time to time. The major ammendments made in 2010 were aimed at strengthening the role of the OTR by vesting Treasury Registrar with more powers and responsibilities to enable it perform its objectives accountably, efficiently and effectively.

Under the above statute the OTR is mandated to hold all investments comprised of the paid up capital of Public and Statutory Corporations or PEs as well as in private investments where the Government owns shares or interests in trust for the President and for the purposes of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Minerals available in Tanzania include gold, diamonds, gemstones (such as rubies, aquamarine, tanzanite, sapphire; emerald, rhodolite, opal, zircon, alexandrite, garnets, tourmaline, spinel, peridot, iolite) Iron and Base metals (nickel and cobalt), platinum group metals: (platinum, palladium and Rhodium), Industrial minerals (soda ash, kaolin, salt along the Coast and inland lakes, vermiculites, limestone, silica sands, phosphate, gypsum, mica, dimension stones i.e. granites, travertine, marbles, quartzite) and coal resources. Tanzania is the 4th largest gold producer in Africa after South Africa, Ghana and Mali and is the sole producer of the precious stone Tanzanite in the world. Gold production currently stands at roughly 40 tonnes a year, copper at 2980 tonnes, silver at 10 tonnes and diamond at 112670 carats. Business Monitor International (BMI) forecasts average annual growth in the mining sector of 7.7 per cent between 2013 and 2015.

Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA) is an Executive Agency under the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MOHCDGE).

TMDA which was formerly known as Tanzania Food and Drugs Authority (TFDA) was established in 2003 after enactment by the Parliament of the Tanzania Food, Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Cap 219. This Act was later amended in 2019 to Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Act, Cap 219 after the shift of responsibilities of regulating food and cosmetics to Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS). The change in legislative framework which was done through the Finance Act, No. 8 of 2019 also resulted into the change of name to TMDA.

TMDA is now responsible for regulating quality, safety and effectiveness of medicines, medical devices, diagnostics, biocidals and tobacco products. In order to improve public service delivery, TMDA is managed as an Executive Agency in accordance with the Executive Agencies Act, Cap. 2

Tanzania Veterinary Laboratory Agency (TVLA) is an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries (MLF), that was established under the Executive Agency Act Cap 245 (Revised Edition; R.E 2009), gazetted on GN number 74 of 9th March 2012 supplement Number 8 and instated by the Chief Permanent Secretary on 11th July, 2012.

The Agency was formed by merging the Central Veterinary Laboratory (CVL), Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Research Institute (TTRI), Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Research Centre (TTRC) and laboratory activities of seven zonal Veterinary Investigation Centres (VICs).

TVLA has by now a total of 12 Centers following establishment of a new Sumbawanga TVLA Centre in West Southern Zone. The other 11 centres include: Centre for Infectious Diseases and Biotechnology (CIDB), the Central Veterinary Laboratory (CVL), Tanzania Vaccines Institute (TVI), TVLA Arusha, TVLA Dodoma, TVLA Iringa, TVLA Mtwara, TVLA Mwanza, TVLA Tabora, VVBD Kigoma and VVBD Tanga.

The Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA) is an Executive Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade responsible for business administration and regulation of the laws; namely Companies Registration, Business Names Registration, Trade and Service Marks Registration, granting of Patents and issuing of Industrial License. It was established under the Government Executive Agencies Act No. 30 of 1997 and formally launched on 3rd December 1999.

The Government Procurement Services Agency (GPSA) is an Executive Agency established under the Executive Agency Act N0. 30 of 1997 vide GN 235 of 7th December 2007 and amended as per GN 133 0f 13th April 2012. The Agency was officially inaugurated on the 16th June 2008.

 The Government Procurement Services Agency (GPSA) was established to perform the following functions;

  • To provide adequate quality supplies at competitive prices;
  • To provide clearing and forwarding and consultancy services;
  • To provide safe and secure warehousing and storage facilities;
  • To arrange for procurement of common use items, services and works (CUIS) using framework contracts and;
  • To provide third party procurement services;
  • To provide for bulky procurement of motor vehicles, motor cycles and plants for Government use; and
  • To provide consultancy services in public procurement.
