After the introduction of " Sports Act " in 1984, " Mauritius Sports Association " was dissolved and gave birth to several independent federations , but governed by the laws of their respective international federations. Known as the " Mauritius Amateur Athlectics Association " since the beginning of its operation, a name change was approved April 5, 2001 , and the association became the Mauritius Athlectics Association ( MAA) . Since its birth in 1952 , the MAA was straight with the IAAF , world governing body of athletics and was at the time , WADA was affiliated commission of " Mauritius Sports Association ".

The Association exists to represent its members, to promote and establish conditions conducive to competitive, sound and responsible banking and finance business.
The MBA was first established in 1967 as an association of commercial banks that were authorised to conduct banking business in Mauritius. Its founding members consisted of the following five banks: Bank of Baroda, Barclays Bank D.C.O., Habib Bank (Overseas) Limited, The Mauritius Commercial Bank Ltd and The Mercantile Bank Ltd. Over the years, its membership increased to all banks operating in Mauritius.
