The American Maritime Academy was established in 2006 and offers a wide-ranging maritime educational program as well as nautical tourism in the Middle East. Courses such as hospitality, engineering, and Master/Mate from 50 to 3000 tons are delivered via protocols and international maritime and transportation institutions. The company’s framework, based on U.S. guidelines, is constantly fine-tuned to meet the changing demands of commercial and recreational vessels. Founded in 1948, the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE) is a private, nonprofit organization composed of educational and cultural institutions, professional scholars, and private individuals. ARCE's mission is to support research on all aspects of Egyptian history and culture, foster a broader knowledge about Egypt among the general public, and strengthen American-Egyptian cultural ties. ARCE was formally established in Boston on May 14, 1948, at a meeting presided over by Harvard’s Edward W. Forbes and Archaeological Institute of America President Sterling Dow. In October 1990 the Modern English School Cairo opened its doors with only 28 students enrolled.
