Cipla Quality Chemical Industries Limited (CiplaQCIL) is a state of the art pharmaceutical plant that manufactures the latest Anti-retroviral (ARVs), Anti-malarial (ACTs) and Hepatitis B medicines.

CiplaQCIL was established in 2005 as a joint venture company between Cipla Ltd of India, the world’s largest manufacturer of generic medicines and Quality Chemicals Ltd (QCL) of Uganda.

The venture attracted two other international investors namely; Capitalworks Investment and TLG Capital Investments of Mauritius.

In 2013, QCL entered into a strategic partnership with Cipla where the Indian company acquired more shares in an effort to enhance technology and knowledge transfer.

The establishment of the pharmaceutical plant is in line with the Pharmaceutical manufacturing Plan of Action for Africa, the East African Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plan of Action and the Millenium Development Goals.
