About African Women’s Economic Policy Network

AWEPON was created thanks to All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) Women´s Desk (ecumenical community representing over 120 million Christians in 39 countries in Africa) who initiated its Works on the impact of economic policies on women. The founding principle of the network is the fact that women have the fundamental right to shape economic policies affecting their lives. This principle is still guiding the path taken by AWEPON for research, analysis and promotion of economic justice, thus an attempt is made to train women, so that they will be able to directly participate in the decision making process on economic policy and on the debates at different forum at a national, regional or world level. Objectives: - To be an analysis, debate and diffusion forum on present economic policies. - To strengthen, through training and research, specially the capacity of African women in rural areas to exert political pressure and influence. - To function as a link for groups, netwo
