Who we are ABOUT US BIRD (Bulambuli Initiative for sustainable Rural Development) is a grassroots community-based organization situated in the remote district of Bulambuli in Eastern Uganda, near the Kenyan border. It was founded in 2008 through local community contributions and registered with the Ugandan Government under the amended NGO Act in 2017 (# 12966). BIRD’s overall goal is to unite the efforts of rural farmers and villagers to jointly address issues of common concern in the region. While BIRD is a Christian-based organization, membership is open to all, regardless of religion, colour, age and gender. BIRD’s objectives of building a peaceful and just society, promoting skills Education for the less privileged support the farmers find better market for their good coffee, supporting community to build relicense mechanisms to face the day today challenges of life.
