About CENTRE FOR ECOLOGICAL GOVERNACE AND GENDER INITIATIVES (CEGGI)
PROFILE
Centre for Ecological Governance and Gender Initiatives (CEGGI) is an Indigenous Non-Profit-
making Organization that was founded and registered by the Government of Uganda in 2017 with
a focus to improve on the livelihoods of communities, through advocating for equitable and
sustainable use of Natural endowments to attain a healthy environment.
CEGGI is legally registered as an Indigenous None Governmental Organization under the new
NGO Registration Act 2016. It was also incorporated by the Government of Uganda through the
Registrar of Companies, thus attaining permission to perform its advocacy duties in all parts of
Uganda.
The inception of CEGGI is premised on the background that its founders aimed at closing Gender
and Ecological gaps in Uganda that they realized in the face of extractives development in the
country.
CEGGI has realized that closing gender gaps and creating an ecological balance plays a pivotal
