Ostomates Uganda was birthed informally in 2014 and registered officially in 2017. The idea of the formation was after a family was faced with this health challenge. Mrs. Hellen the mother to the founder was operated in 2014 with the colon disease and inflammatory intestinal bowl with the view that the condition was temporal as told by the doctors. In 2015, Hellen was taken back to the hospital for another surgery to reverse the condition; unfortunately this was not going to happen. The doctors could not reverse Hellen’s’ condition because the rectum had developed infections and the only way was removal. The stress of living a ” borrowed life” grips the family because the colostomy appliances are not easily accessible. Two years down the road the family got stuck and Hellen resorted into using of Polythene bags, used ragged clothes, used newspapers and the conditions grew worst. Colostomy bags are very difficult to be got here in Uganda. My mother could not go to the public in fear of
