Established in 1957, Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB) is a not-for profit Non-Governmental faith-based organization with a network of 302 faith-based health facilities including 18 Hospitals, 10 HC IVs, 88 HC IIIs, 186 HC IIs and 16 Health Training Institutions. UPMB facilities are scattered across Uganda and constitute about 40% of the private non-profit health facilities in the country. Currently, 91 of these facilities provide HIV treatment to 63,497 individuals. UPMB coordinates its network facilities both directly and also through its decentralized structures: The Dioceses under Church of Uganda (COU), the Fields under Seventh Day Adventist Church Uganda Union (SDAUU) and Pentecostal Health Coordinators that are co-located with the District Health Management Teams. UPMB co-owns the Joint Medical Store (JMS) with Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB) to ensure a steady supply of drug and medical supplies.
