In 2002, civil society organizations (CSOs) involved in peace building, human rights and good governance promotion work in the Rwenzori region established Rwenzori Forum for Peace and Justice (RFPJ). By this establishment, CSOs envisioned having a convergence of synergies under one peace building, violence prevention and good governance platform. Since its establishment, RFPJ has conducted ground breaking research on peace building and conflict management issues; fostered learning and the adoption of non-violent conflict management mechanisms and; galvanized different local, regional and national actors to enhance their commitment towards peace, justice and respect for rights. As part of growth, RFPJ secured a national mandate in 2013, opening up more opportunities for the forum to extend its mandate beyond the Rwenzori region.
