Slum Aid Project (SAP) is a non-government organization that started in 1991/2 and registered in 1993 as Katanga Community Based Project as a Community Based Organisation working in Katanga slums to focus on women and child rights. SAP was registered under the Non-Government registration statute 1989 (Registration S 5914/954 number 767) as an NGO and incorporated in 2001 as a company limited by Guarantee. Since 1993, SAP as a women and child rights organization worked mainly in Kampala district focusing on gender-based violence, HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), leadership and governance for women. Overtime, aspects of women’s economic empowerment and girls education were added. Through SAP’s years of existence, various community-based organisations have been create.
