GALZ SET FREE COMMUNITY - BASED ORGANIZATION

Galz set free is a community-based organization located at Kawuku Bunga Ggaba road, Opposite Petumu house, Ggaba parish, Makindye East, Kampala district, Uganda.

Mission statement

To inspire, empower, build a safe and productive environment for girls, boys and persons with disabilities (PWDs) through skilling and advocating for their rights.

Vision statement

To realize equality, fairness and a safe environment for girls, boys and persons with disabilities as well as empowering them with skills that shall witness sustainability.

BACKGROUND

GSF started as a small group comprising of less than ten members under a project known as SAFER CITIES FOR GIRLS, a task group under PLAN INTERNATIONAL. So, when plan’s program of safer cities for girls closed, GSF decided to start its own programs a and registered as a community-based organization (CBO) with Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA). Gals set free managed to also setup an office that is located at Kawuku Bunga Ggaba road, Opposite Petumu house and this is the main office.

So far, at least a total number of 80 people have benefited from the Gals Set Free programs and 80% of these are single and teenage mothers from the areas of kawuku, Ggaba, Katuuso and others.

Their lives have been changed through skilling them, counselling and helping them start their own small businesses to support them and there families as well.

INTRODUCTION OF GALZ SET FREE.

Galz set free is a community-based organization operating on two major mainstreams to include ADVOCACY (it refers to evidence based, collective efforts or strategy mostly targeting decision makers and designed to influence actions, programs or policies of any type of institution) and;

SKILLING (This refers to a series of programs designed to equip knowledge and practical skills to individuals on how to start and operate their own ventures/businesses and stand a position of a better living).
