BRIEF HISTORY The creation of the Free University of Kinshasa, "ULK" in acronym, dates back to 15 October 1988. At that time, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were only three universities, all state-owned. That is to say, the ULK was the first secular Private University to emerge in DRC. It was created in lieu of the University Institute of Law and Economics (IUDSE) which it actually originated. LOCATION The headquarters of the ULK is located at No. 36 of 15th Street in the Town of Limete, Kinshasa. The lessons are also offered at the same address. This is a sufficiently protected site against external disturbance, for reflection and scientific work. Furthermore, the site is easily accessible since located some 200 meters from the Lumumba Boulevard, a major thoroughfare familiar to Kinshasa.
