Ghana is endowed with abundant natural resources, which have played a key role in the development efforts of the country. The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources (MLNR) was established under Section 11 of the Civil Service Law 1993 (PNDCL 327), and is mandated to ensure the sustainable management and utilization of the nation’s lands, forests and wildlife resources as well as the efficient management of the mineral resources for socio-economic growth and development. The Ministry consists of three sub-sectors; Lands, Forestry and Mining. In fulfillment of the constitutional provision, Ministries, Agencies and Departments are to implement Government’s programmes through a national development policy framework. The policy framework which is being implemented in phases has been translated into the Ghana Shared Growth and Development Agenda (GSGDA), 2010 to 2013 under the auspices of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC)
