TransNamib Holdings Limited is the national surface carrier of Namibia – a leader in provision of rail and road transport solutions within and across the border of the country. “TransNamib” was established in terms of the National Transportation Service Holding Company Act, 28 of 1998, and is the success or of the former TransNamib Ltd. All shares in TransNamib are owned by the Government of the Republic of Namibia, who also exercises non-regulatory control through the appointment of the Company’s directors.

Bulk Freight
We cover Namibia with Rail and Road transport, and facilitate trade with SADC members, supported by our fully-equipped modern container facilities in Windhoek.
TransNamib provides specialized bulk-transport services to most major economic sectors in Namibia. Our core business lies in bulk freight logistics solutions designed for customers in industry. These include Mining, Construction, Building Materials, Bulk fuel, Liquids, Agriculture and Heavy Industry. TransNamib has the experience and expertise to convey any bulk freight in an efficient and cost-effective manner no matter what your specific requirements might be. We carry the benefit of a long-standing track record in handling bulk cargo and have tailor-made solutions for vast requirements.

Container Services
A convenient door-to-door service between rail and road for the transportation of your valuable cargo with the highest degree of security (mini, 3m, 6m and 12m containers). Our services include complementary bond and excise services at our Windhoek Container Terminal (WINCON) facilities in Windhoek.
WINCON is fully accredited with Customs and Excise as an in-bond facility which means Customs clearing procedures can be executed at the customer’s doorstep in Windhoek.
Container depot in Windhoek is equipped with two heavy-duty (45 ton) reach stackers and one 12-tone forklift on average the container terminal handles 2000 containers per month on average. Mini-container depots stations such as Tsumeb, Keetmanshoop, Otjiwarongo, Grootfontein and Ondangwa also handle containers, dealing with an average of 900 per month.
Passenger Service
Although rail services are predominantly freight-oriented, Passenger services are mainly focused on the needs of economy class long distance passengers. For the leisure / tourist market the Desert Express was developed and haulage services are provided for private tourist trains.

TransNamib Express “TNX”
TNX is an efficient service for parcel and containers that offers a fast and reliable service on a daily from major South African cities such as Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Upington to/from Namibia. The service has 600 collection and delivery points in South Africa which makes it a great way to get your valuable cargos.
TransNamib Parcel Express “OPX”
OPX is reliable and cost-effective parcel express service designed to transport small consignment efficiently to all major towns within Namibia. This service is the ideal cost-saving and all consignments are transported in sealed containers for added security.
Road Services
Road services supplement the rail services by providing onward transport to destinations not served by rail.
Freight Acceptance & Claims
TransNamib Holdings Limited accepts all normal commodities for transportation. However; special conditions will apply to hazardous goods and consignments not conforming to normal specifications. Goods handed in for carriage must be suitably packed for transportation purposes. A special OPX envelope, for dispatch of documents only, is available. These envelopes can be purchased in advance and the price thereof covers the transport cost of the envelope to all OPX destinations.
Tariffs Mass: Transport charges will be calculated on actual or volumetric mass whichever is the highest. To calculate the volumetric mass of a parcel, the following formula is applied:

Claims
TransNamib Holdings Ltd accepts liability for valid claims to a maximum of N$ 500 000.00 per consignment. This liability shall equal the consignment value stated on the waybill or, alternatively, the cost price plus freight and insurance, whichever is less. Claims must be lodged with our claims department within three months of the consignment date.
