Gourd: Locally known in Western Uganda as ‘ekyanzi’ these gourds are given to a bride as a send off wedding gift and are used for storing milk. Even before the wedding ceremony, the bride-to-be would be ‘fattened’ for 6 months, given a large gourd of milk cream to consume before sundown.
