The Orchid family  is a diverse  and widespread family of flowering plants, with blooms that are often colorful and fragrant

Orchids can be grown both indoors and outdoors depending on variety. Generally orchids are easy to take care of provided all their basic needs are met such as light, temperature and humidity

Most orchid varieties are not grown in soil. There are several types of growing media that can be used with orchid plants. These include; bark, spahgnum peatmoss, charcoal, etc

Orchids grow well where they receive partial sunlight. Insufficient light results into poor flowering. However too much sunlight can lead to leaf scorch

 Most of them, the roots are visible, so water when the roots tend to appear greyish or silverish, when the orchid has water, its roots are green. 

Orchids usually need to be fertilised often especially when they are done with flowering. Orchid fertilisers help with boosting new growth and flowering.
