Vitaren syrup is a group of water-soluble vitamins, some of which are Coenzymes and fat soluble, Vitamin A. B vitamins play a vital role in maintaining good health and well-being. Multivitamins are used to provide vitamins that are not taken in through the diet. Multivitamins are also used to treat vitamin deficiencies (lack of vitamins) caused by illness, pregnancy, poor nutrition, digestive disorders, and many other conditions.

Mechanism of Action

Multivitamins act as coenzymes in a substantial proportion of the enzymatic processes that underpin every aspect of cellular physiological functioning. As a coenzyme the biologically active form of the vitamin binds within a protein “apoenzyme” creating a “holoenzyme”, thereby increasing the resultant enzyme’s competence in terms of the diversity of reactions that it can catalyse

Side effects

Mild upset stomach or flushing may occur; serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing

Contraindications

The following conditions are contraindicated with this drug. High amount of oxalic acid in the urine, Iron Metabolism Disorder causing Increased Iron Storage, sickle cell anemia, anemia from Pyruvate Kinase and G6PD deficiencies, Increased Bodily Iron from high Red Blood Cell Destruction.

Drug interaction

Becoren may interact with drugs especially of: altretamine, cisplatin, certain antibiotics (e.g., chloramphenicol), certain anti-seizure drugs (e.g. phenytoin), levodopa, other vitamin/nutritional supplements. May interfere with certain laboratory tests (e.g., urobilinogen, intrinsic factor antibodies), possibly causing false test results.
